Authors Abstract
Content
The increasing demand for heat resistant materials with the added requirements of toughness, flexibility and chemical resistance has recently awakened a new interest in the subject of inorganic polymers. The development of silicones, especially those with elastomeric properties, is an example of what may, in time, be done with other inorganic systems. Polymers which are structurally similar to the silicones and others such as the phosphonitrilic halides have been synthesized and indicate that, with increased research and development in this field, flexible materials suitable for use in high-temperature environments may be produced.
