THE needs of our war machines have made it necessary to accelerate many old projects and inaugurate some new ones in the field of steel metallurgy.
Mr. Eddy discusses these developments and gives his predictions of how future practices with respect to steels will be affected by these metallurgical accomplishments.
This discussion of present accomplishments and future trends is made by Mr. Eddy along the following lines: fatigue endurance, heat-treatment, castings, welding, alloy evaluation, hardenability as a primary requirement, special addition agents, and NE steels.
