EDITORIAL: Real-world emphasis on electric

With a backdrop of the United Nations' COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, which attracted world leaders and global attention, and the passing and signing into law - finally, after much debate - of the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill, the news that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is ramping up the third iteration of its SuperTruck program may have been missed.

In concert with goals outlined at COP26 and itemized in the infrastructure bill - namely, the $7.5 billion earmarked for creating a nationwide network of EV charging stations - the SuperTruck 3 program is emphasizing electrified trucks and freight system concepts to achieve higher efficiency and zero emissions.
