In this study, we proposed the driving education method using operant conditioning to help drivers maintain a safe following distance. In order to verify the educational effects of using this system, an experiment was conducted using a driving simulator. As a result, driving education method using operant conditioning was able to maintain the time headway longer than method to presenting a risk to drivers simply. Consequently, this system should be helpful in increasing the driver's headway and in reducing rear-end collisions.
