Abstract
This paper deals with a control system for autonomous vehicles at highway junctions. A decision-making model that considers a driver's characteristics is constructed using fuzzy inference. To understand the characteristics of a driver, we organized an experiment for decision making in highway conditions. The algorithm was constructed using the experimental result. The model consists of three layers: position decision layer, speed decision layer, and merge control decision layer. These decision models are constructed independently. As for synthetic judgment, the three models are combined. To check the validity of a model, a simulation is conducted, and it shows that these models can describe the decision process for real drivers.
