Abstract
In order to measure the contact pressure distribution of helical gears actually assembled in machines and also to develop the verification method of CAE in gear unit design, a thin-film sensor for helical gears was developed. Multi-point thin-film pressure sensor was approximately 6 μm in thickness, 10 μm wide, and 1-mm long pressure sensing parts and original lead film shape adopted in newly developed sensors. Theoretical results were obtained by FEM high speed contact analysis method (ANSOL) and the results were evaluated with experimental results.
