Abstract
This study focused on driver behavior when CMS (Camera Monitor Systems) are used instead of conventional mirrors in lane-changing situations. Three sizes of monitors were put on the base of the driver side A-pillar. Differences in size showed that behavior drastically changed only in the case of the smallest monitor. Higher frequency of lane change in the smallest one suggested a too small monitor may lead to risk-taking behavior. Sensory rating also ranked the smallest one as the worst. These results indicated many factors including size and layout should carefully be taken into account.
