Development of TPE All Weather Mat
Published October 12, 2011 by Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan in Japan
Lightweight, low odor and eco-friendly TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) all weather mat was developed by optimization of the components. Effects of each component such as PP (polypropylene), SEBS (styrene ethylene butadiene styrene), PE (polyethylene), and additives on the various properties of the material were investigated. In order to find out the dominant effect on the properties, the design of experiment method was adopted. The result showed PP and oil in the TPE composition gave more effect to the hardness of the product than SEBS and PE. In addition, the melt flow index of the material was optimized for the processing of the product.
