Abstract
Each automobile body contains 4,500 to 6,500 spot welds joining its body components together. The quality of these welds directly influences the rigidity and integrity of the body. Because of this, producing good welds and monitoring the weld quality in real time with non-destructive testing method is of the utmost importance to the automotive industry. This paper describes a method that consistently produces good welds and monitors the quality of weld in real time. An experiment was performed to prove the soundness of this concept. The result of this experiment is presented in the later part of the paper.
