Abstract
Heavy-duty truck which has long wheelbase twists when it turns or changes driving lane. It is well known that the body torsion affects the driving stability. In this paper, authors focus on the relation between the torsion of the vehicle at the lane change and the driving stability; especially a sense of unity of the vehicle body. The indexes which show the sense of unity of the vehicle body are determined and it is found that the gradient of Lissajous figure of torsion angle of chassis frame versus the front roll angle and the hysteresis between the front roll angle and the torsion angle of the frame represent the sense of unity well. Increase of the gradient and decrease of the hysteresis improve the subjective evaluation score of sense of unity of the vehicle body.
