Rear-end collision distribution is represented and verified by combining both braking maneuvers measured in the driving simulator experiment and EDR data analysis. Crash speed reduction and crash avoidance ratio for vehicles with a PCS (Pre-Crash Safety System) are calculated and compared with those for vehicles without it. The method is expected to be used as a tool for system refinement, for it enables to clarify the effective region and extent of each function respectively.
