Abstract
SARA (Strategic Automotive Radar frequency Allocation) group is convinced that SRR (Short Range Radar) is one of the most suitable technologies for safety applications because of its high availability even under bad weather conditions and at night. Customers recognize these safety benefits. Cars are on the road in Europe, US and other countries. Today nearly 60 countries allow the use of 24 GHz UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) SRR. SARA already proposed a 79 GHz UWB SRR frequency allocation in Japan. Worldwide harmonization of frequencies is essential to open the markets for SRR-based vehicle applications and avoid country-specific technologies.
