Abstract
This paper describes that digital human neck models are constructed in order to solve neck injury mechanisms of passengers with seat belts during rollover. In rollover accidents, the neck injury is one of the serious injuries. Though there are many papers regarding rollover accidents included in accident researches, the relationship between the neck injury and the roof strength during rollover has not yet been clarified relatively. To analyze the vehicle collapse and the occupant behavior during rollover, reinvestigations of rollover concerning accident researches, papers, rules and basic tests are executed. Furthermore, digital human neck models are constructed in order to solve neck injury mechanisms of passengers with seat belts during rollover accidents. The digital human neck models composed of links and joints are constructed. As a result, it is found that the motion of the digital neck model with some links and joints causes the relative movement from calculations by using a multi-body dynamics approach. The phenomena of relative movements give the interpretation of rollover important suggestions to solve rollover mechanisms.
