High Concentration Ethanol Effect on SI Engine Emission (2nd Report)

From the viewpoints of anti-fossil and CO2 reduction, much attention has been paid to the usage of bio-ethanol. Yet, the major subject in applying highly concerned ethanol in SI engines is to sustain cold startability and exhaust emissions. This is due to the distillation characteristics of ethanol and large latent heat required to vaporize. In this paper, technical methods for reducing exhaust emissions are analyzed from the viewpoint of improving fuel vaporization by using the devices of heating intake port wall.
