A Spacing Control Algorithm for Vehicle Platoon Systems (First Report)~Development of Energy-Saving ITS Technologies

New Control algorithms are proposed for vehicle platoon systems which are developed for a new project of NEDO, called "Development of Energy-Saving ITS Technologies." The proposed methods use the information of the distance between the controlled vehicle and the following vehicle as well as the preceding one with inter-vehicle communication. The controller is designed by unifying the spacing and velocity control and the stability is shown based on Lyapunov stability theory. The usefulness is confirmed by various simulation results.
