Abstract
This work presents a generalized computational algorithm for analysis of thermodynamics states of a fuel-air mixture in spark ignition engines working with different fuels. Initially, theoretical results are compared with published ones containing experimental data for validation purpose. As the principal aid of this paper is the comparison of the different correlation proposed in the literature for the heat transfer coefficient with the generalized algorithm, the model is quickly described. The combustion process is modeled using a pre-defined function, which establishes the mass fraction of burned fuel. Convective heat transfer to cylinder walls is estimated with empirical correlations, which will be compared. Then, the ordinary differential system is established in terms of the pressure, temperature, work, heat release and heat transfer to the cylinder wall as functions of crank angle that is solved by an improved numerical method. In the end, some parameters such like: pressure and temperature are evaluated to show the sensibility of the model to different correlations for heat transfer to the cylinder wall in spark ignition engines.
