Controlling Combustion by Spark Ignition in Hydrogen HCCI Engine Supported by DME Supplement~Effect on Expanding Stable Operation Region and Improving Output Power

Hydrogen Si-HCCI which is a new concept of HCCI combustion realized by applying spark ignition in hydrogen HCCI engine supported by DME supplement achieved controlling of onset of main heat release. As a result improvement in thermal efficiency was achieved by operating under so-called MBT conditions. In addition, the Si-HCCI enabled to reduce misfiring in high lambda conditions and mild and stable combustion in low DME mixing rate at low lambda condition. As a result large improvement in output power and expanding stable operating region were simultaneously achieved.
