Abstract
This study was aimed at clarifying the effect of oil evaporation on cylinder wall on lubricating oil consumption in a gasoline engine. For the purpose, the amount of intake air of each cylinder in a multi-cylinder engine was measured in simple using hot-wire flow meter. The oil consumption in each cylinder was measured by sulfur tracer method, and estimated by piston ring lubricating model considered with oil evaporation on cylinder wall. This paper described the relation of oil consumption between both cases.
