Abstract
As the public is becoming highly aware of the reduction of carbon dioxide with regard to global warming recently, we also need to pay attention also to further improvement in fuel economy and emission reduction of automobile engines, both from the perspectives of protection of global environment and market needs. On the other hand, the users are demanding for a more “Fun to Drive” concept. Bringing to realization both demands in higher levels is what is required from engines and powertrain, and there are varieties of proposals from manufacturers such as hybrid-system. We so far have proposed the deploy of a large capacity CVT which could be provided at a reasonable price. In this report, an outline of the engine property on the premise of combining a high capacity CVT and the measures to bring to realization the “Fun to Drive” combined with CVT will be explained.
