Effects of Turbulence Behavior on Fuel-Air Mixture Process of Fuel Spray

In this study, a numerical experiment of 2D convective equation and a LES of evaporative diesel spray are performed to examine effects of convective schemes on fuel-air mixture of diesel spray simulation, using KIVALES. CIP is incorporated into KIVALES and is used as convective schemes in addition to KIVALES original schemes, such as QSOU, PDC and IDC. The results show that QSOU is unable to predict the unsteady behavior of the diesel spray, since the numerical dissipation is very high. On the other hand, IDC method gives the unsteady behavior of diesel spray, while an excessive turbulent vortex and an unphysical temperature rise are simulated due to the numerical oscillation. CIP method shows unsteady motion of diesel spray can be predicted with no unphysical temperature rise.
