It has been required that plain bearings especially exhibit superior anti-seizure and running-in property on bearing performance under severe conditions which can be mostly caused by pursuit of higher performance of recent automotive engine and by adoption of lead-free material of the bearing according to ELV regulation. Based on these backgrounds, a new bearing was developed as lead-free aluminum alloy with metallic overlay to satisfy the engine performances. This paper describes details of the new bearing material and bearing performances.
