Road Noise Sound Quality Equivalent Models for Interactive Driving Simulators

A pleasing sound quality performance while driving at constant speed requires a more detailed sound model than generally applied. This requires references to sources and parallel paths involved in this type of sound. This paper presents an approach to build a Sound Quality Equivalent Model for road/tire and wind noise. The road/tire noise will be modeled as a set of wheel harmonics and sets of incoherent noise sources including inter-aural level differences.
The presented work will show the elements of the model, discuss the measurement and processing procedures as well as the tuning capabilities inherent to such a model.
