Abstract
FEA and piston hydro-pulse test were performed with five kinds of gasoline piston gudgeon pin bores structure such as relief pocket or tapered or barrel shaped bores. Comparing the cylindrical pin bore, the relief holes diminish the maximum stress on the top of the pin bore, especially for the asymmetrical relief hole relative to the gudgeon pin center. The numerical analysis result agrees to the hydro-pulse test. Parameters of the piston structure should be deliberated carefully with FEA and other approach.
