Abstract
Active Safety Systems have to ensure shortest stopping distances, stable vehicle dynamics even during critical driving maneuvers and varying friction situations - all for avoiding accidents, reducing number of fatalities or at least mitigating injuries. To improve the vehicle safety with existing active safety components, a networking of them within a Global Chassis Control is mandatory to combine different active safety measures to a harmonized and most effective intervention as well as an integration of environmental sensors to extend the safety measures to the traffic hazard by other road users.
