Development of Three-Dimensional Combustion Simulation~Prediction of Unburned Fuel for Lean Burn SI Engine

Three-dimensional combustion simulation tools with the flame propagation model UCFM has been applied to SI lean burn combustion to study the influence of equivalence ratio on the amount of unburned fuel. Unburned fuel from the piston crevice volume was taken into consideration by using the calculation grid with a practical crevice volume shape and applying autoignition model to the post-burning phenomenon. The calculation results show the general tendency for the total amount of unburned fuel as well as the distribution in combustion chamber.
