Abstract
System reliability estimation plays an important role for OEM’s to determine warranty duration and maintenance schedules. This paper discusses a computer simulation procedure developed for repairable systems reliability assessment. The methodology allows the designer to predict system failure during the product development phase. If the system reliability does not meet the target reliability, the methodology can be used to improve the system reliability measure and allocate that improvement optimally to the components of the system. Therefore, the methodology can be employed to solve the forward problem of predicting the system reliability from individual component failure statistics as well as solve the reverse problem of allocating the component reliability to achieve the target system reliability value.
