Abstract
This article describes how to manage the increasing complexity of distributed electronic control systems and reduce time and costs at the same time. Included are the graphical modeling of function networks starting from a function database, building a technology independent design, simulation and continuous test and verification using Model-Based Design. The design process will finally highlight the deployment of those functions onto a target ECU network, as well as system analysis features like failure risk analysis and fault tracking. This process will be demonstrated with the standard tools for function design MATLAB and Simulink from The MathWorks and architecture design CAPE/C from Capeware Technologies GmbH.
