Study on Fault Diagnosis System for Vehicular TWC

The fault diagnosis testing method of TWC is investigated in this paper. By analyzing its invalid mechanism, it's shown that the conversion efficiency of TWC that has chemical invalid reduces obviously and the air flow characteristic in front and back of TWC that has physical invalid is affected. In this paper, the practical tester is designed and strategy of fault diagnosis system for TWC is proposed.
The data of emission component and pressure fluctuation of fore and rear of TWC is analyzed by fault diagnosis software. The conversion efficiency is calculated. Fault diagnosis result is given according to fault characteristic in qualitative pattern identification system, and operational performance of TWC is evaluated. The durable performance is forecasted in this system. Because the engine running is related with performance of TWC, the misdiagnosis caused by not TWC factor is reduced greatly. The time of collecting and analyzing basic data is very brief, and it has advantages of online, real-time and fast diagnosis.
