Development of Ceramic Filter for Ultra-Low PM Heavy-Duty Diesel~High- Performance Filter for the Realization of PM 0.027 g/kWh

We have developed a large monolithic structural high porous cordierite filter. We have optimized the microstructure of the porous wall to obtain better performance, and the newly developed filter successfully provides the low pressure drop and the high PM filtration efficiency, which are tradeoff relationships for heavy-duty diesel. The newly developed filter makes a great contribution to the development of ultra-low PM heavy-duty diesel to meet 2005 PM standard (GVW>3.5 ton: 0.027 g/kWh) level in Japan.
