Abstract
This paper describes work undertaken, using the Pi AutoSim hardware-in-the-loop simulator and MATLAB, to test an engine management system's accuracy in the angular domain. The work has involved the development of a combination of models and test scripts, along with post analysis tools to enable Pi AutoSim users to analyse angular based event code. Case data from various engine control units (V8, V6 and I4 engines) has been used for validation.
At present, only steady-state testing has been considered, i.e. all input variables to the plant model have remained static. However, this paper will cover the implications of non steady-state testing and discuss the scope for further work into this area.
