Development of New 6 Speed Automatic Transmission for Trucks and Buses

The trend of improving fuel efficiency is fast becoming an unavoidable and important challenge with the growing worldwide interest in environmental consciousness and energy efficiency. In the truck and bus market, a strong demand emerged for a next generation of high performance automatic transmissions that is capable of realizing more fuel efficiency while meeting the performance and durability requirements.

With this growing demand, Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. developed a next generation 6 speed automatic transmission suitable for truck and bus markets. This transmission is equipped with new gear train and torque converter as successor to its conventional 4 speed RWD automatic transmission model. In this manuscript, we introduce our new 6 speed automatic transmission.
