Analysis of Fuel Adhesion Behavior in Wall Impingement of Slit Nozzle Spray in Relation to Direct Injection Gasoline Engine

A measurement method of the fuel amount adhered on wall using fluorescence agent detecting technique was developed. The wall adhesion behavior of the fuel spray injected by a 60° slit nozzle was clarified by the adhesion observation and adhered fuel amount measurement under high pressure and high temperature conditions as well as the atmospheric conditions. Based on a phenomenological analysis on the adhesion behavior, the data of adhered fuel ratio η were arranged into an empirical formula which is expressed as the function of Rea and Wef numbers.
