Simulation of Soot Generation and Coagulation

Size of a soot crystallite was estimated by the mathematical model utilizing Monte Carlo method, assuming coagulation of soot crystallites begins when PAH dimers emerge. Estimated size of a soot crystallite was around 2 nm. Using size of a soot crystallite as the initial condition, growth of soot particles inside an engine cylinder and an exhaust pipe was simulated by the mathematical model considering coagulation caused by Brownian motion and van der Waals force. The predicted size distribution of number concentration by the mathematical model has one peak around 60 nm.
