Software Safety Architecture to Fulfill Increased Safety and Availability Requirements

The paper defines a software safety architecture for safety-related control units in automobiles. The modules of the safety architecture are presented and it is explained how the safety architecture fulfills the increased safety requirements, ensures the testability of the design and allows concurrent engineering throughout all development phases.
