New Nissan March is fitted with a new IT system called CARWINGS. This system can be operated by voice commands and provides text-to-speech (TTS) capability for reading aloud information received from a portal site during driving. In this study, the driver's mental workload while listening to a TTS reading was measured with the dual task technique on driving simulator. As a result, it was found that driver distraction while listening to the TTS reading was comparable to that of listening to the radio, indicating the high level of safety of the system.
