Authors Abstract
Content
A joint taskforce between the Sub-committee (Brake Linings) of the J-SAE and the Technical Committee (Brake Linings) of the JAPIA from 1999 through 2002 has been conducting actual test runs regarding “Assembly Shear Strength” based on ISO 6312 and JIS D 4422. The studies on “Assembly Shear Strength” for these standards are discussed in this paper and some considerable improvements for these test procedures have been obtained through these test studies and actual test runs. This joint taskforce issued two papers on the harmonization studies of ISO and JIS Standards on “Internal Shear Strength of Brake Linings” and “Compressibility of Brake Linings” at the 18th and 19th Annual Brake Colloquiums respectively. The results of the two studies and the present study are summarized jointly and discussed in this paper.
