There are many 3-D parts with complicated profile in process of B-I-W assembly, which cause many assembly fitting problems. In order to solve this kind of problems, a novel algorithm based on genetic algorithm to research the global optimal fitting position of two space curves is presented, and the mathematic model for 2-D and 3-D curves are set up respectively. The solution to constrained optimization problem by applying genetic algorithm is described in detail, and the whole diagnosis flow of GA is presented. Some improved GA methods used in the constrained optimization are discussed.
