Abstract
The elastomer foam body seal (weather seal)† is analyzed using both implicit and explicit solvers with different material models available in the software packages. The pros and cons of foam material models fitted with different types of testing data for elastomer foam body seal analysis are discussed. The predicted CLD (compression load vs. deflection) curves of different seals are correlated with the corresponding testing results. Finally, a practical approach of elastomer foam body seal analysis is summarized.
