Authors Abstract
Content
Tests are conducted in a soil bin for studying the interaction between vehicle and terrain to investigate the relationships of pressure-sinkage and shear stress-displacement of the desert sand. Bekker's formulae and Janosi's formulae are first used to describe the relationships of pressure-sinkage and shear stress-displacement of the desert sand. And then the new models for predicting the relationships of pressure-sinkage and shear stress-displacement of the desert sand are presented. A comparison between the computation with the new models and test results is made and it is found that there is a fairly close agreement between them.
