Event: Safety is No Accident
The Safety Management System (SMS) sets out a company's safety policy and how it will manage safety as an integral part of its overall business. CAA's Safety Regulation Group (SRG) recommends that companies establishing an SMS need to take a pragmatic approach, building where possible on existing policies, procedures and practices, particularly Quality Management. This paper describes the benefits of an SMS and the contents of a new publication ""Safety Management Systems for Commercial Air Transport Operations~A Guide to Implementation"" which will shortly be issued as Civil Aviation Publication 712.
