Abstract
This work explains the development of a computer model to design cam profiles, taking into account various valve train designs.
The model has the capability to generate the cam motion curves and test the performance of these curves via the simulation of the valve train dynamics. When the cam motion curve produces the required or acceptable valve train response, the cam profile co-ordinates are generated. Because of the cam shape dependency on the valve train geometry and followers shape, the model gives the option between radial and oscillating actuation for several follower shapes.
