In the solutions of governing equations of one-dimensional unsteady compressible flow, the fluid is usually assumed to be ideal gas. However, when the fluid can not be regarded as ideal gas, such as gases of higher molecular weight and simple gas at extreme temperature and pressure, the assumption may cause significant error in the calculation. Hence, efforts are devoted to finding new approaches to deal with the compressible unsteady flow without the ideal gas limitation. This research work introduces a real gas property table to work in conjunction with the three governing partial differential equations for the conservation of mass, momentum and energy. The results from the calculation using carbon dioxide gas are encouraging.
