Reduction of the tire acoustic cavity noise

This study investigates interior road noise caused by the acoustic cavity resonance inside the tire-wheel assembly when a passenger car is traveling. First of all, we research some characters of the acoustic cavity resonance inside the tire-wheel assembly. Next, we derive the equation of motion of the acoustic cavity system and explain the characters theoretically. And then, we propose the technique to reduce the peak level on the acoustic cavity natural frequency. Finally, we make prototype wheels and confirm the validity.
