An electronic multi-point injection gasoline system and a
mechanical multi- point diesel rotary fuel injection system are
applied to the intake of a standard 4-stroke pre-chamber automotive
diesel engine to obtain a hybrid combustion.
Hybrid combustion is characterized varying the engine work
conditions, principally, the homogeneous and heterogeneous charge
relation, the fuel properties (different diesel and gasoline
mixtures), the engine speed, the torque and the cooling system
temperature.
Three different kinds of hybrid combustion have been found and
defined: the self-ignition hybridization, the mixture hybridization
of advance and the mixture hybridization of delay.
Every kind of hybrid combustion can be modified in different
ways, to reduce the combustion noise, the NOx generation, the
particles emission or to improve the fuel ratio.
The heterogeneous combustion modification can be controlled by
three principal parameters, the hybridization fuel properties, the
hybridization fuel percentage and the time and among of main fuel
injection.
