The squeal phenomenon is very complex and non-linear. Many papers have reported the use of complex eigen values analysis to detect the squeal propensity. This kind of analysis does not consider the non-linear behavior of the brake while it is squealing. On the other hand, a numerical simulation based on non-linear calculations is time-consuming and not suitable for sensitivity analysis. This paper presents a new method to deal with the squeal problem. It combines a non-linear static calculation with a linear complex modal analysis by calculating the contact surface between the pads and the disc and the contact pressure distribution before running the complex modal analysis.
