Abstract
For the development of fuel supply system with neat dimethyl ether (DME) for the compression ignited engine, the experiments were performed to establish the DME low-pressure injection. As a result, the compression ignited engine with DME low-pressure injection successfully reduced the ignition lag period and dominated the diffusion combustion. Therefore, this inactive combustion by DME low-pressure injection was able to reduce NOx and THC emission. Additionally, the combustion characteristic, through the experiment of DME premixed compression ignited combustion which changed the compression ratio, was investigated.
