Abstract
Discussions are ongoing between the US and European Union Governments concerning the international harmonization of motor vehicle safety and environmental regulations. This involves consideration of the inter-governmental regulatory process necessary to achieve such harmonization and a comparison of the respective technical requirements.
In this paper the automotive glazing regulations for the USA (FMVSS 205 / ANSI Z26.1) and the EU (92/22/EEC / ECE R43) are compared in terms of functional equivalence and the certification process.
