Nadir Yilmaz, Ph.D., PE, Howard University, USA
Yilmaz is a Professor and the Department Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Howard University in Washington, DC, as well as a licensed professional engineer (PE) and consultant. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Bradley University, and New Mexico State University, respectively. He has been a noted author of many publications in the fields of combustion, CFD, rocket propellants, alternative fuels, and internal combustion engines. Yilmaz is a Fellow of ASME, NSPE, and SAE International.

Yilmaz serves as Editor-in-Chief for the SAE International Journal of Fuels and Lubricants and an associate editor for the ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power. In addition to serving on the SAE ABET Accreditation Board, he is Chair of the SAE International Education Board. Yilmaz also serves on the Board of Directors of the Turkish Society of Automotive Engineers.

Yilmaz received the 2014 NSPE National Young Engineer of the Year, given to a professional engineer younger than age 35 in the United States. He also won the SAE International Excellence in Engineering Education “Triple E” Award in 2016, SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award in 2011, and SAE Faculty Advisor Award in 2013 and 2016.
