The application of plastic to the radiator core support has greatly reduced the part count and weight. In addition, a front-end module has been developed centering on the plastic radiator core support. The module improves installation ease in the engine compartment, reduces installation time and improves assembly quality. Nissan was the first Japanese vehicle manufacturer to apply this technology to a production vehicle that was released in the spring of 1998. This paper describes the methods that were applied from the design to the production of the front-end module.
