Abstract
The TTP/A protocol is a character oriented time-triggered protocol for the design of low cost distributed real-time systems, particularly in the field of automotive body electronics. It is designed to operate with standard UART hardware interfaces to provide utmost compatibility with a large number of single chip microcontrollers. The distinguishing features of TTP/A over other protocols proposed for automotive body electronic applications are the support for composability in the temporal domain, the short error detection latency, and the protectiveness of the protocol.
